Unlike its predecessor, the WX10 Cyber-shot DSC-WX100 brings now with a 10x zoom. Thus, it is not considered all-rounder, but as a compact mega zoom model. In this class, it immediately reached a leading position. Measured at the tiny-looking housing the 10x zoom feature is an imposing outfit. Visually, DSC-WX100 has succeeded, the case feels valuable and it lies perfectly in the hand. The only drawback we feel the heavy tactile buttons and the tiny scroll wheel for precise control practice is required. Other plus points gathers the Sony with its video function. When recording in full HD quality stereo sound and optical zoom are available. The latter acts pleasantly slow, so no lens motor noise is immortalized on the soundtrack. In addition, the continuous auto-focus has enough time for a successful focus tracking
The 18-megapixel CMOS sensor, the WX100 is a good noise performance, at least in the expression. On the monitor, however, can already be visible at ISO 400 noise. The measured resolution is good, but to complain is a strong edge drop. In terms of detail the camera is reflected only at ISO min well. The Zeiss optics fully convinced: it shows virtually no distortion or color fringing and vignetting also hardly
For speedy switch comes a lightning-fast auto-focus: The shutter lag at initial focal length top with 0.15 seconds to 0.27 seconds at telephoto position, the same applies. The WX100 cut off the small little battery power, so this holds by 130-440 images.
